BREAKING: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update released

Home / News / BREAKING: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update released

There’s finally good news for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners who have been waiting for a taste of Oreo for a very long time. Samsung has now started rolling out the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update. The firmware update is currently being rolled out over-the-air in the United Kingdom and it’s only a matter of time before it’s released elsewhere.

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Oreo update

This is likely a phased rollout so Oreo for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will certainly not be rolled out in all markets simultaneously. The timeframe that Samsung had recently provided called for a wider release by mid-May so we can expect the update to go live in additional markets over the next couple of weeks.

Samsung is now rolling out firmware version G930FXXU2ERD5 and G935FXXU2ERD5 for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge respectively in the United Kingdom. The firmware is only available over-the-air right now and can’t be downloaded through SmartSwitch.

All of the new features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo are included in this release. Check out our detailed What’s New With Android 8.0 Oreo series to find out more about all of the new features and improvements that this update brings. The firmware update also comes with the April security patch.

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners in the United Kingdom should now keep an eye out for an over-the-air update notification as it will be landing on their devices soon. They can also try manually pulling the update by going to the Software update menu in the Settings app. The update won’t be immediately available for carrier-branded units, though.

The ball is now rolling on Oreo for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge so users across the globe can rest assured that they will receive a taste of Oreo sooner rather than later. We’ll surely let you know as soon as the firmware is rolled out in more markets.

Update: The same build is also being rolled out over-the-air for Vodafone-branded devices in the UK.

Thanks, Michael!

Excelente Layout, processamento fluido e melhoras sensíveis no desempenho. Contudo, Onde está o Relógio Noturno no Android 8.0 Oreo? Se ainda não tiver, por favor, liberem, pois é uma ferramenta que faz falta no S7 Edge.

Nobody knows, also given that April security patches are rolling out on Nougat even though Oreo brings them too (and Oreo rollout seems to be on vacation)

Just flashed Oreo BTU on my S7 Duos (930FD) from Nougat XTC.. Seems a bit faster and more responsive.

I noticed no bugs so far. I will be using this until Oreo is available for XTC.

Guys, I just flashed it and it’s awesome. We got video wallpapers from s9, more fonts, Screenshot by pressing volume down and power off and so on. Running very smooth and battery life is pretty god for first release, will be fixed in next releases. Flashed the UK Firmware in Germany, still have German CSC.

I’ve got the XEU too. Proper trolling by Samsung here. But, happy to wait. Hopefully it’s a matter of days. I’m not going to get into any kind of flashing.

I don’t understand, why The Galaxy S 7 SM-G930F U.K/CSC CODE XEU/IRELAND didn’t got the update to Oreo with the april security patch? When it’s already released in U.K? As far as I know Ireland is in UNITED KINGDOM, so where is that update?

I updated to Oreo and I’ve been having half battery life due to a really annoying Cell Standby battery drain. It uses more battery than my screen. I’ve tried everything except format factory. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

HELP…. flashed BTU Oreo firmware on SM-G935FD using odin, everything is working fine but when i go recovery mode it showing one error msg “E:Failed to clear message: failed to find /misc partition”

rmbln01

rmbln01

Yes, we all have that message.
It’s probably the Recovery file itself that is causing the problem.

I just ignored it since it has no effect on device’s performance.

After 2 days trying Oreo, I flashed back my original Nougat CSC without any problem.
Will try flashing back my original Nougat Modem (CP) if it’s possible and observe differences in signal reception.

Update:
I’ve successfully flashed Nougat CSC and Nougat CP over my Oreo-updated S7 Edge.

Here’s my current Firmware Details:

AP: G935FXXU2ERD5 (BTU Oreo)
CP: G935FXXU2DRB6 (XTC Nougat)
CSC: G935FOLB2DRB2 (XTC Nougat)

I did that ‘coz I’m losing mobile data connection even if my data signal indicates 4G/4G+ using the BTU Oreo CP & CSC.

Will test tomorrow if there’s any improvements.

Maybe he’s afraid of flashing, or maybe he wants to wait for a ROM with some bugs and glitches fixed (for example, Mali GPU drivers). Not all people are so eager to flash the newest right away – remember what happened to S8 Oreo update?
And btw, it was shown that the G935FD model, despite also being an Exynos model of S7 Edge, and though G935F firmware is working on it, still has some more bugs compared to G935F.
