The December security patch is now out for two more Samsung devices, the Galaxy A3 (2017) and the Galaxy J3 (2017). An update is rolling out for the two devices in a couple of markets (Italy, Ecuador, and Cambodia), but since these are the entry-level models in their respective lineups, it remains to be seen how quickly the new update will make its way to other countries (if it does at all).
For information on the December security patch, check out this link. Long story short, it fixes ten vulnerabilities only found on Samsung's software, but if your A3 or J3 hasn't received a security patch update for a few months, the new update will also bundle all of the recent security fixes since the last update, including fixes for the KRACK and BlueBorne exploits that affected Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Check to see if the update is ready for your phone
To see if the update's available on your phone, tap the Download updates manually option in the Software update menu in the phone settings. You can also download the respective firmware from our database (here for the A3, here for the J3) and use a PC to upgrade if the over-the-air update doesn't show up on your device right away.
