Galaxy S9 back will reportedly ‘change a lot’

Home / News / Galaxy S9 back will reportedly ‘change a lot’

Rumors and reports about the Galaxy S9 continue to filter is as anticipation for Samsung’s next flagship smartphone grows. The latest suggests that the Galaxy S9 back is going to “change a lot.” That means Samsung might make some design changes to the rear panel of the Galaxy S9.

Just what can the company change? Perhaps it might finally remove the pain point for a lot of customers by repositioning the fingerprint sensor. The handset is also expected to feature a dual camera system at the back.

Galaxy S9

A China-based source who has been right on several occasions in the past reports that the Galaxy S9 back is going to change a lot. No further details have been provided at this point in time.

The same source recently claimed that the much-rumored optical fingerprint recognition technology won’t be ready for the Galaxy S9. The new flagship won’t have a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display.

The changes that can reasonably be expected include a dual camera system at the back. Samsung might reposition the fingerprint sensor as well so that users don’t have to play finger olympics just to reach it.

Do keep in mind that nothing is set in stone as yet. We’re going to hear many conflicting reports about the Galaxy S9 before the handset is made official. Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9 early next year.

They should just make the whole back a fingerprint reader and the whole front a screen.

I was thinking about it a few days ago. Why they can not do it. Back is from the glass so it should be working. Only one thing is that if whole back could be a ffs you can not put your phone into any cover.

Also means your phone will never be locked if the whole back screen was a FPS! I don’t like my phone being unlocked constantly.

I had no problem reaching the fingerprint scanner on the S8 plus and now even on the bigger Note8 and my hands are not very big, just normal. Maybe it’s the way I hold it in my right hand as I’m left handed and use my left for typing and browsing, the index finger is naturally beside the scanner. But my wife who has small hands and is right handed can also reach the scanner easily. I think this is an invented issue by some reviewers who may have unnaturally small fingers or just wanted something to complain about. It’s… Read more »

I have a Note 8 and when it comes to gloves, I wear an XL or XXL. But still, the sensor is almost a 2-handed operation for me. Or it requires me to ‘choke up’ and re-position my hand further up the device.

I do not think people will make up false problems. Who has time for that?

I like it and prefer it where it is on Note 8 not so much on S8/S8 plus because it’s too close to the camera. I thought the people complaining about it would be mostly left handed because I can see why it would be a pain for left handed people but I’m surprised it’s not an issue for you

Thanks for the reply. Yes. Just try it. Hold the phone in your right hand and take a look where your index finger is pointing. It’s right beside the scanner. People asked before and I posted a picture on G+. If I hold the phone in my left hand, it’s more difficult, but that’s because I’m not right handed probably.. Lol. But lefthanded people hold the phone in their right hand and the scanner is naturally available. However I must admit, I use the iris scanner more as with my phone on the stand beside my desk it’s better just… Read more »

Hmmm didn’t think or know about it, interesting. I would have thought left handed people would hold their phones mainly in their left hand. Do you put it in your left or right pocket?

Yes, I’m a 2 handed user as I’ve always used Note devices so naturally I hold it in my right hand and type and browse with my left hand which is natural for me, and my phone is always in my right pocket too. 🙂

I’ve seen more Galaxy S8 users than any other galaxy before! The fingerprint scanner location is no longer an “issue”. No, it wasn’t great to start with but you get used to it within days if not hours you unlock it so much. and if you are still not used to it; your brain isn’t smart enough to be using a smartphone!

We do not have a problem with Galaxy S8 fingerprint position. Think you should stop making it an issue. Galaxy S8 users are not complaining about this. Only you and other mobile site. We like it where it is.

I put a like on your comment and another one but for some reason it’s not showing, just letting you know. I agree that it’s not the problem some say it is. I would say, ask the 70 or 80 million who bought the phone if they’re worried about where the scanner is. I’ve only joined Sammobile but I’m surprised they’re so negative in some articles I’ve been reading. Anyway, have a good one!

Ask those same 70 or 80 million if they have used it more than 5 times…. [crickets]
