Wells Fargo confirmed that today, more than 40 percent of its ATMs across the country have support for Samsung Pay cardless cash withdrawal. It is aiming to upgrade the rest of its over 13,000 ATMs in the United States with “tap and pay” NFC functionality by 2019.
In order to use this functionality, Wells Fargo customers first have to configure their debit cards with Samsung Pay. Once that's done, they don't need to carry the debit card with them to get cash if they can find an NFC-enabled Wells Fargo ATM.
To order to conduct a Samsung Pay cardless cash withdrawal, they have to walk up to the ATM, select the relevant debit card in Samsung Pay on their device and just hold it near the ATM's NFC terminal. They only need to enter the card's PIN number to complete the transaction.
More than 5,000 Wells Fargo ATMs that have support for cardless cash withdrawals currently will feature a “contactless symbol” decal on the front.
