We've already mentioned how this update limits color options for the Galaxy S8's navigation bar background. Users can no longer use a fully black navigation bar background which isn't that great when you think about it. Samsung has provided no reason for switching up the background colors.
Another minor change included in this update pertains to running apps in fullscreen mode. We've previously revealed a tip to you about how you can use all apps in fullscreen mode on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+'s tall displays.
Samsung has allowed users to enable fullscreen mode for each app individually since day one. There's a shortcut in the recents menu for precisely this purpose, but Samsung is now making it easier to do this with the latest firmware update.
The update adds a new button which will be displayed above the navigation bar in apps that don't support the native resolution. “Tap here to fill entire screen,” reads the button which is self-explanatory. Just tap on it and the app will automatically enter fullscreen mode.
It's easier and faster to enter the fullscreen mode for apps that don't properly fit the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+'s display. It will come in handy until such time as developers update their apps with proper support for the larger display.
Thanks, Henk!
