The Samsung Dex station, which was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ last month, is now available for purchase in the Netherlands. It is priced at €119 (which is a 20% discount over its original price of €149), and you can order it through KnalDeals.com. The online shop is offering free delivery if you order DeX through it, but know that there are only 15 units left as of now.

The DeX station is compatible with the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, and it turns these smartphones into a desktop computer. It offers users a desktop-like UI with multiple windows, a full-sized web browser with multiple tabs, and Android apps when it is connected to a monitor (through its HDMI port), a keyboard, and a mouse (through Bluetooth or one of its full-sized USB ports).

The wired docking station features two full-sized USB ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, an Ethernet port, and a USB Type-C port. Apart from using Android apps, accessing files, and replying to messages and emails, users can also take calls through a connected loudspeaker or over Bluetooth while using the DeX. It can also rapidly charge a connected smartphone using its Fast Adaptive Charge-enabled USB Type-C port.

Update: The DeX station is also available at a lower price of €96 (and an additional €5.95 for handling) through MaxICT.nl online store in the Netherlands.

Samsung’s DeX notebook needs to evolve the platform to be taken seriously

A pretty wild rumor recently suggested that Samsung is developing a DeX notebook. Or, more specifically, the so-called DeXbook would combine the in-house desktop experience with Google's ChromeOS. It's a far-out idea but might work under the right circumstances. Or, at the very least, it would be a unique experiment to behold. However, as an […]
