6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S8+ will reportedly cost over $1000

Samsung is planning to launch variants of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. These variants were certified by TENAA just before the official unveiling of Samsung’s newest flagship smartphones. It is now being reported that the 6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S8+ would cost upwards of $1,000.

A new report from ETNews says that the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will only be released in China with a price tag of KRW 1,155,000 (or $1,030). Those pre-ordering this variant of the Galaxy S8+ will also get a DeX dock (which costs KRW 160,000 or $150) for free.

Samsung launched the 128GB storage variant of the Galaxy S7 last year in South Korea and then released it later in a few other markets, including India and New Zealand.

If you buy the Galaxy S8 at $1000 instead..you do get the best smartphone on the planet right now! until Note 8 comes along, made by the same company. I think Note 8 will be less expensive than this version, my advice you should wait or buy the normal S8, this version it’s kinda more an S8 Edition I can’t afford this phone either, it’s very expensive! But I also understand Samsung is not dumb either, they know what they have Let’s recap…Exynos 8895 – fastest mobile processor on the planet, 128 GB UFS 2.1 -fastest mobile storage on the… Read more »

Ya know what… SCREW YOU SAMSUNG! WTF?! THE US IS ARGUABLY THE BIGGEST SMARTPHONE MARKET FOR SAMSUNG AND U CREATE A BEAST OF A DEVICE ONLY FOR CHINA?! WHY?? All of the speedtests that I’ve seen comparing phones with 6gb vs the same model with only 4gb show the 6gb version outperforming the 4gb. Then you stick Bixby in there (something NO ONE asked for) to run in the background using resources that ultimately affect performance.. WHY?! U could have brought back the IR blaster and nixed Bixby. Who wants to have all these different voice response systems on their… Read more »

Being a huge fan of Samsung, m kind of disappointed, I think Samsung just wants to collect the lost money of Note 7 fiasco from this. They should have release S8 and S8 Plus worldwide with 6GB of RAM, keeping price tag the same.

P.S: Still buying S8+ though. Once a fan, always a fan. 😉

My thoughts exactly. They cut R&D and buffed up the prices I’m pretty sure the margins on the S8 will be a lot more than the S7

There’s not really a difference between 6 GB and 4 GB, unless it has LPDDR4x, who knows maybe the both have LPDDR4x
I do like to see a 512 GB storage version!

Having more internal memory and ram would be best for the s8. Having had a chance to play with a retail model. I’ve found out the following: 19gb out of 64 is used for the system. So you will only have 45gb to use With all apps closed the default ram available is around 1.2gb like the s7, with the Nougat update on the s7 i m finding when using casting, fb, YouTube and the web. Generally it will leave the s7 with only around 500mb free. So with bixby and other new apps flying around for the s8 i… Read more »

@billywongwashere: Unused/free RAM on Android is wasted RAM

Rather have more free than it stuttering to a halt with overheating (potentially) and warns flashing up 😉

I’m currently using the 64GB S6 edge+, I think that is plenty storage enough and the S8s have SD cards too! it really doesn’t bother me that mine is 64GB and 4GB RAM. I cannot imagine how 6GB RAM would be any better when the heaviest apps require a maximum of 2GB, my 4GB has never lagged. What I really wanted from the S8s was stereo speakers and Full HD Slow motion camera, and since that isn’t what is coming to these extra expensive versions, it doesn’t bother me, and other people who have pre ordered shouldn’t feel sad either.

I like the sound of the 128gb storage. Not too fussed about the 6gb ram. Can’t imagine it would be a really noticeable difference. Would be nice if we all had the same specs within reason
