What’s New With Nougat Part 9: Video Enhancer brings better video and sound quality

Home / News / What’s New With Nougat Part 9: Video Enhancer brings better video and sound quality

In the next part of our What’s New With Nougat series we’re looking at a new feature that’s aimed at providing an even better video and sound experience to those who want to use their devices for watch multimedia content, basically everyone that picks up one of these bad boys, because the Galaxy S7 series is undoubtedly one of the best devices on the market for watching content on the fly.

Located in the Settings menu, Video Enhancer is a new feature that we found in the Android 7.0 Nougat beta build on our Galaxy S7 edge. When turned on, this feature enhances the image and sound quality of videos so that viewers are able to enjoy brighter and more vivid colors with clearer sounds. The extra bit of processing involved will likely impact the battery life which is why Video Enhancer is OFF by default. From the looks of it, this feature will only work with supported apps which will include the likes of YouTube, Netflix and the native Video Player.

What is your impression of this feature, do you think that it’s a novelty that you will eventually forget about? Let us know by dropping a comment down below.

Is this trying to compensate for the Note7s HDR screen and the content viewing on that? Hope it makes it to the 2015 flagships

Sound is better with turning on the enhancer, but the display is too bright, if you switch between e.g. YouTube and other app you see the difference,… Anyway, not bad idea.

It seems to me that it brightens and uses the display setting of AMOLED Cinema. I like it either way. I hope this feature is brought to the TAB S2 also.

Everything is cyclic in the field of technology. On the one hand, as a consumer, we love our 70+” Samsung television sets, their clarity and the fact that we can enjoy their clarity and heaps of detail. As a result the cell phone replay video quality has been relegated to the “little brother”. It’s hard to find people that enjoy equally the two technologies. So, is it possible that the “large” TV brigade will adopt the cell phone as their primary viewing platform? Particularly when the trade-off is substantially reduced battery time on the cell phone. I don’t think so.… Read more »

Is found inside the Note7, it’s just port over to S7 series. Nothing new in regards to this video enhancer.
