Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to receive Android 7.0 update in two to three months

The Galaxy Note 7 was released with Android 6.0.1 onboard, but the company has plans to update the device to Android 7.0 as soon as possible. According to a new report, DJ Koh said that the Galaxy Note 7 will start receiving Android Nougat update as soon as “two to three months“.

Samsung Mobile chief Koh Dong-jin also added “It is very important for us to offer up-to-date information with the new OS, but what’s more crucial is to build a stable and seamless platform for users. That’s why we are planning to do enough beta testing before any OS updates.

This means that Galaxy Note 7 owners should be able to taste the latest version of Android before the end of this year. However, it’s worth mentioning that we haven’t found any development on Android 7.0 firmware from Samsung yet. Google is yet to launch Nexus smartphone(s) with the final version of Android Nougat.

It is being reported that the LG V10 successor, which is expected to be announced in a matter of weeks, will run Android Nougat out of the box. Is Samsung late with software updates yet again?

Any idea on when Nougat will be released for the S7? Hopefully that gets it before the Note 7.

I have the Note 4 edge and previously, Notes 2 & 3. Been a SamSuck fan since cell phone beginning until now. Screw you SamSuck for no timely updates, for screwing over your customer’s loyalty and ignoring security updates. I freaking hate Crapple! But you forced me to buy a 128gb iPhone 6S Plus so I CAN get updates! I loved the Galaxy Note series (up to Note 4 Edge) because you gave us what we wanted. Now, you basically dropped all that to make your version of iPhones minus software and security updates. I can’t do much with this… Read more »

BS… You could’ve gotten a Nexus instead. Android updates and security patches aren’t the same as iOS’s so there’s absolutely no way you can compare them. We all know Samsung is bad at updating their devices (prior to the S6) but this is not the way to complain.

I had the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in the day, not interested in the current offerings today of nexus choices. Also, 2 year only support is total B.S. I am still using my Note 4 edge via wifi while hating the Crapple experience. But, the Crapple will be supported long after 2 years and unlike SamSuck, I can trade it in (or sell it) towards the purchase of the newest device available. They retain their value and 128gb iPhone won’t be hard to get rid of.

Same BS years by years, I just laught at it. I don’t think they will release it within this year also, perhaps the update will be released in 1 or 2 months after the S8 release because that phone will run Nougat out of box and they want to make sells for the phone.

They said same with note 4 and other smartphones
This is fake or sponsered news for sure to mislead new fans

Make sure those guys don’t forget the S6 and its Edge variants, Note 5 and S7 and S7 and S7 Edge, because I’m really excited for Vulkan to hit my S6.

Good news for you. This is from the Oculus forum. ….. “Yes.. The S6 will get it. Any GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 is capable of running Vulkan. This includes any devices like the Nexus 6 which have Qualcomm Adreno 4xx GPUs and above; the S7 has a 530. Sadly of note we are losing the Nexus 5 and devices of that generation and below, etc”.

It’s important to get it right rather than too fast with errors. N is offering multi window, vulkan support, VR support etc, and we have all of this stuff already. They are also including better security in N, but Samsung is actually more secure than any stock Android and now increasingly so with improved Knox, secure folder etc. I’m not anticipating anything exciting from Google. The trend for the past couple of Android versions has been to copy what Samsung and other OEMs have brought to Android already. They’re becoming like Apple.

Samsung and others can begin to work on Android-N now, and post it as a download without the carrier applications.
They have the radios and all the basic necessities to have the phone working on the carriers; now, if the carriers want to add their stuff to it, they can continue working on their release of Android-N.

Doubt it. It will probably come out after the launch of the S8.

:)) you’re so right and the S7 will get it even later ….probably close to the NOTE 8 launch date.
