Samsung Internet version 4.0 now released for older Galaxy devices

Samsung Internet version 4.0 was released about two months ago, it brought several new features including but not limited to support for adblocking extensions and popup video player. The app has now been updated with support for older Galaxy devices and it finally brings these features to those devices. The full list of supported devices has been published on the app page in the Google Play Store.

Other features in Samsung Internet version 4.0 include a Secret Mode which cloaks browsing data, tight integration with Samsung Internet for Gear VR, ability to view online videos in a popup window to browse the web while playing videos, support for third-party content blockers and much more. Samsung Internet is available as a free download from the Google Play Store. It’s compatible with devices like the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy S4 and others running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above.

The adblockers don’t work on the S5 (SM-G900H). Other than that, it’s a good browser.

You need 4.0 version of browser and after download AD Block fast and open it and press the red button in the middle to start ad block.

Funny I read about this at 845am this morning and by 1230pm it was loaded on my phone! Why can’t the upgrade from Lollipop 5.0 to Marshmallow 6.0.1 be as quick? The GS5 has been badly neglected as far as software updates go.

I’ve had this on my note 4 , for over a week c/w add blocker….. Works fantastic , it has become my default Internet app. Loads a over two times faster than google chrome with no adds that cover up what I want to read…. Very smooth with hardly any ram used to run unlike chrome..

After two years without any update, it’s really good news that Samsung decided to let older devices use the latest version of the browser.
Let’s hope the music player gets updated too on Lollipop-running devices !
