Camera bump on Galaxy S7 and S7 edge to be just 0.8mm thin

When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge last year, people complained about the camera bump on its back. Many questioned Samsung's incapability in making the back of the device flush with its camera sensor. However, most of the rumours and reports from the past couple of months cited that the camera bump on the Galaxy S7 duo won't be as pronounced as its predecessor's.

Now, a new image has surfaced that explains exactly how much the camera protrudes above the back surface of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. According to @OnLeaks, the camera bump on the Galaxy S7 is around 0.8mm, which is less than half the thickness of the camera bump on the Galaxy S6 (1.7mm). This reportedly makes the camera bump “almost imperceptible“. Recently released devices in the Galaxy A (2016) series have a very thin camera bump, and we wouldn't be surprised if the Galaxy S7 carries something similar.

The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge are expected to ship with 12-megapixel camera sensors and bigger batteries when compared to their predecessors, but the overall thickness of these upcoming smartphones is not known yet. Everything will be clear once Samsung officially unveils its next-generation smartphones on February 21 along with the Gear 360 virtual-reality camera.
