It is not uncommon for vendors to file trademarks to protect their branding identity, which is most likely the case here. Samsung already has clearly-defined product lineups in the high-end segment, with the Galaxy S series being the mainstream flagship and the Galaxy Note line for those looking for a larger screen. Trademarking the Galaxy S6 Note is just Samsung's way of making sure that obscure Chinese vendors don't get it to first.
Samsung has filed the following application to trademark S6 Note:
