Samsung has announced that it is collaborating with SAP to bring enterprise apps on its smartphones and wearable devices. The partnership will combine Samsung's hardware, SAP's mobile applications, HANA cloud platform, and the Android platform to create tools which can help organisations to create custom business applications for businesses in retail, healthcare, financial, and oil & gas sectors. Using such enterprise apps on Samsung devices, developers and system integrators will be able to create new Internet of Things (IoT) applications which will work in tandem with an organisation's products and services. In a joint statement, the these companies said that they will contribute to “build on the popularity and reach of Samsung’s mobile innovations and the SAP Mobile Platform.”

Seokpil Kim, who heads the Global B2B Center at Samsung Electronics said, “As a market leader in smart devices and solutions, we know how to bridge consumer expectations for what a premium mobile experience should feel like with a readiness for the enterprise environment. We’re committed to building a world-class, open, and comprehensive enterprise mobility ecosystem and delivering the best-in-class enterprise solutions that combine the strengths of Samsung’s mobile innovations and the SAP Mobile Platform.

Earlier this year, Samsung snapped up IoT startup SmartThings for around $200 million and announced an expansion to its Smart Home IoT platform with an ability to work with third-party devices such as digital door locks and IP cameras with the help of an SDK.
