Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini to hit retail in mid-July

Just like a new Galaxy S flagship is a given each year, so is a new iteration of the current Galaxy S’ mini variant, a device that Samsung always hopes to sell not based on its feature list, but on the fact that it carries the name of the company’s multimillion-selling flagship. This year will be no different – the Galaxy S5 Mini has been leaked numerous times in the past few weeks, with our exclusive post revealing its photos and specs leaving nothing to the imagination. Today, we have received some information about the release date of the Galaxy S5 mini – according to our source, the device will go up for sale in markets worldwide in mid-July.

Now, that isn’t exactly the most concrete piece of information, but it’s all we have at the moment. It’s not exactly a very surprising revelation either, as a mid-July release falls in line with the Galaxy S4 Mini’s launch last year. Thankfully, the S5 Mini won’t be as mid-range as the Galaxy S4 Mini was, and will actually offer some of the features seen on the flagship it is spun off from, including a fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor, and IP67 water and dust resistance.

The Galaxy S5 Mini will also feature a 4.5-inch 720p display (a considerable upgrade from the disappointing qHD display of the Galaxy S4 Mini), an unannounced Samsung Exynos 3 Quad (Exynos 3470) SoC with a clock speed of 1.4GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, and the usual bevy of connectivity features including LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR Blaster, NFC, and GPS. On the software front, the Galaxy S5 Mini runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Samsung’s latest TouchWiz UX and comes with all the software features found on its bigger brother, including Ultra Power Saving Mode, Private Mode, and Kids Mode.

  1. ’4.5 is too small in my opinion,a ’4.8 to ’4.95 inch might be better considering if they competing against the lg g3 beat ( mini ) which has a mind blowing ’5.0 for a mini not to talk about it’s 2 GB ram…lol

    • You -just like LG- don’t seem to understand the meaning of “mini”. It would be plain stupid to call a 5″ phone “mini” when the non-mini version is 5.1″. 4.5″ is about the maximum a mini phone should go, and it’s still a bit too big. These phones are designed to be small. Five inchers are huge and these mini versions are for people who don’t like those stupidly big phones. If you don’t think there are plenty of people out there wanting small phones, take a look at Apple’s offer (both current and upcoming).

      • You are definitely right “sicofante”
Mini should be as stated and nothing else.

    • 4.5″ should be upper limit for “mini” versions. Otherwise they don’t make sense as mini. I want to carry my phone in my pocket. I believe they will be get smaller by and by.
You’re a customer and they can’t ignore you(your money). Maybe they will embed phone into the tabs for the users like you who wants bigger screens

  2. Still no dimensions and weight info?

  3. Better than my out-dated Galaxy S3! :(

  4. When we can find it in Turkiye / Europe? Is it on sale in Russia right now? We’re in middle of July but I couldn’t find any recent news about trade of S5 Mini except pre-order news in UK. Is it on the markets?
