Forget green or pink, Galaxy S23 needs the Galaxy Note 10’s Aura Glow look

We revealed exclusive information today that the signature colors for the Galaxy S23/S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be green and gold/pink gold. While we can't be completely sure about this info, it did get me thinking: which color would like to see on the Galaxy S23 series?

Well, the title already gave it away to seasoned Samsung fans, but for those wondering, I'm talking about the Aura Glow colorway that we saw on the Galaxy Note 10+'s back a couple of years ago. It was the last time we saw something truly special from Samsung as far as colors for its smartphones go.

The industry gradually moved on from the hype surrounding gradient colors. Most manufacturers, Samsung included, decided to go for a more understated look for future smartphones. We do still see gradient colors on the odd phone or two, but the gradient era is more or less over as smartphone manufactures move towards classy and understated looks for their flagships.

But the era of gradient colors can always be revived, and I, as a Samsung fan, would really love to see something like the Aura Glow look on the company's upcoming flagships.

Aura Glow was a visual overload, and it was amazing

The Aura Glow Galaxy Note 10+ impressed pretty much everyone when the device launched back in 2019, even if not everyone liked it enough to actually buy the Aura Glow version. And yes, too many people just slap a case on their phones, making the color of the back of the phone more or less irrelevant. But not everyone uses a case, and the Aura Glow colorway commanded attention when the Note 10+ was used out in the public or with friends and family.

Of course, there's an argument to be made that smartphone colors don't really matter. Most flagship phones have glass on the back while the front is all screen with black borders, and that means too many folks put their phone in a case as soon as possible. In fact, even with a plastic back, using a case is a good idea as the screen still remains vulnerable, and it keeps your device looking fresh should you ever decide to sell it.

Still, when it came to showing off the phone, the Galaxy Note 10+ was perfect. The best part about the Aura Glow Note 10+ was how its colors would change depending on how the light hit it and the angle from which you looked at it. In some lighting conditions, it could be a visual overload, and it was amazing.

Sadly, Aura Glow has not made a return since then. And it might not do so in the near future as Samsung continues to put a matte finish on the back of its flagships, which pretty much makes no sense when combined with Aura Glow. I'm still not losing hope, though, and I wish Samsung, at some point, will get that bold once again.
