You might recall that Samsung announced at the Samsung Developers Conference 2024 earlier this month that One UI 7 will be released next year. There's no date for a developer beta as yet so it's unclear when we might get our hands on the latest update.
However, we were able to find a device running One UI 7 at SDC 2024 and shared exclusive video sneak peeks of the new software, including some of the major changes that Samsung has made. As it turns out, One UI 7 is evolving a bit too fast, and our sources tell us that many things are now different from what we could see in that video.
One UI 7 now looks a lot different compared to our SDC video
Samsung only spoke about One UI 7 in passing at the SDC 2024 but it did mention that a major overhaul is being made to its custom Android skin. Given that such big changes are being made, it's understandable why the company has pushed the release forward, even though it has typically released new One UI versions before the end of the year.
The exclusive One UI 7 video we brought you from SDC 2024 showed new icons, an overhauled notification shade, redesigned quick toggles, a revamped camera interface as well as a changed multitasking/recent apps screen.
While much of that was impressive, a lot of it has apparently changed now. Samsung insiders tell us that many of the One UI 7 visual elements that we see in this video have changed. They further say that changes have been made to the icons, animations, and other parts of the interface.
The internal builds are still said to be a bit buggy but they're certainly improving as work progresses. New builds are being pushed out faster than before which suggests that the development continues at full speed ahead.
We'll continue to keep our ear to the ground and bring you One UI 7 news as soon as we get it. For now, all we can do is wait until Samsung confirms the One UI 7 beta program.
