WhatsApp recently added message reactions and 2GB file-sharing capabilities to its app. Now, a new report shows that the world's most popular instant messaging app is currently testing the ability to share rich link previews through text status updates.

Currently, when you share a webpage link via your WhatsApp status, the preview isn't rich and only shows the text of the added link. However, that could soon change. The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo clearly shows the difference between the current text status update and the one that is in the works.

Chat threads already have rich link previews, and the upcoming feature certainly makes webpage links more pleasing to look at.

The report also notes that the screenshot shared is from the WhatsApp beta app for iOS. This hints that the feature is clearly under development for both Android, iOS, and even computers. The feature hasn't rolled out yet even for beta testers and is expected to arrive with a future update.
