Thanks to the sudden explosion in popularity of messaging apps like Telegram and Signal, WhatsApp has been forced to start adding new features to the app at a quicker pace in the last year or so.
Things aren't perfect, though. For example, a few months back, WhatsApp users received the ability to react to messages with emojis to reduce clutter inside message threads and group chats, but only a total of six different emoji reactions were provided. WhatsApp is finally fixing that announcing that users of the app can now react to messages using all emojis that are available in WhatsApp.
Once the feature becomes available for a user, they should be able to see a plus sign next to those six default emoji reactions so they can select from more options. Unfortunately, like with many other WhatsApp features, this one also seems to be a server-side change, which means there's no telling when it will actually go live for everyone.
It could happen later this week, sometime next week, or take longer. In any case, should you not find the improved emoji reactions inside the app on your Samsung Galaxy or another Android phone, just be patient and try again later.
If you're somehow not using WhatsApp already (perhaps because you're in a country like the US?), the app can be installed from the Google Play Store. WhatsApp is also available on the web, which you can read about in our dedicated guide.
Since you asked…
