The beta version of WhatsApp has picked up two new features as Meta works hard on making it the most feature-packed messaging app available on mobile devices. Versions 2.23.24.8 and 2.23.24.9 aim to make the experience better for community group chats by adding options to pin and archive chats.
WhatsApp has supported pinning conversations to the top of the app's home screen for a long time, and a few months back, WhatsApp also tested the option to pin individual messages inside conversations. Now, Meta is testing the option to pin community group chats in the Communities tab of the app, as discovered by WABetaInfo.
Also discovered in the latest beta releases is an archive option for community group chats. Archiving these chats was already possible earlier but was removed in one of the updates the app received a couple of months ago. This time it will hopefully stick around and make it to the stable version of WhatsApp that's used by the majority of users.
If you are enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program, you can download the latest update from the Google Play Store. However, you may not be able to use the new features even if you install the update, as WhatsApp limits new features to select users in the initial phase of testing.
