If you love watching shortform videos like Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts, you might be happy to know that Instagram will soon launch its app for TVs so you can watch Reels on the biggest screen in your home. The company has already launched it for Amazon's Fire TV devices and will bring it to more TVs in the future.

Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has launched its first dedicated TV app. It lets you watch videos called Reels on your TV's display, which is much larger than the screen on your Galaxy phone or tablet. Currently, it is limited to Amazon's Fire TV platform, but Instagram plans to expand its availability to most other TV platforms soon to reach as many people as possible.

The app allows you to add up to five accounts, which means everyone in your family or home can watch Reels based on who they follow and what kind of videos they like watching. You can even create a separate account just for your TV. When you log into your account, you can see Reels grouped into ‘Channels' that match your interests, such as music, sports, travel, hidden gems, and more.

The Search tab displays creators or profiles you follow and their Reels. The company is planning to bring even more features to its TV app, including the one that lets you use your phone as a remote controller and a way to surf through channels.

Since its TV app is made for shared viewing, Reels visible on it generally follow the PG-13 rating system Instagram recently introduced on its mobile app. For teens, videos and comments that are unsuitable for people aged under 18 are limited.

The company has its eyes on YouTube, which has seen huge success on TVs. Even TikTok has an app for TVs. So, it wanted to make sure it reaches people who enjoy watching short-form videos on the big screen. Recently, it released a new design for Instagram's mobile app that opens directly into the Reels tab instead of the Following tab.
