Unlocked, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,799. But as usual, buying the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 on a carrier agreement allows customers to pay less money up-front. You will eventually pay the full retail price, but carriers let you do it through monthly installments, and they allow eligible customers to get the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for free. Here's all you need to know.
For customers who activate a new line on an Unlimited Plus plan and trade in an eligible device, Verizon offers the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for free and shaves $1,000 off the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Existing customers can also get similar deals via trade-in if they're using a qualified 5G Unlimited plan.
AT&T offers both new and existing customers enhanced trade-in values. By exchanging an eligible device, AT&T customers can get the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for free or the Galaxy Z Fold 5 for $799 ($1000 off).
Similarly, T-Mobile customers who add a line or trade in an old device on Go5G Plus or Magenta Max plans can get the Galaxy Z Flip 5 without spending anything on the device, or they can buy the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at a $1,000 discount.
Aside from upgrades such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and a brighter foldable screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, another significant change this year consists of a new Flex Hinge.
The latest Samsung foldable phones have a gapless hinge design. They look more modern, but they're also thinner. All this without sacrificing build quality, the IPX8 water-resistance rating, or features such as wireless charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are available for pre-order and will go on sale on August 11. Pre-order customers can benefit from deals like free memory upgrades from 256GB to 512GB and Samsung Care+ bonuses.
