There have been rumors that Samsung is testing a thinner, higher-end version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, that is not the only foldable phone the company is experimenting with. The South Korean firm also seems to be testing a slimmer version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Slimmer Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 versions could be on the way

A few months ago, CAD-based renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 were leaked. And those images revealed that Samsung's upcoming foldable phones won't be much thinner than the existing models. However, the company seems to be testing slimmer versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

GalaxyClub is reporting the existence of ‘B6 Slim' and ‘Q6 Slim'. Looking at Samsung's track record, B6 is the internal codename for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, while Q6 is the codename for the Galaxy Z Fold 6. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Samsung was planning a limited launch of a device codenamed Q6A, and some reports claimed that it could be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. So, the Q6 Slim could be the Q6A that was reported earlier.

However, here's where things get more interesting. The report from GalaxyClub also claims that Samsung is working on a device codenamed Q6 Slim Pro. However, whether Q6 Slim and Q6 Slim Pro refer to the same device or two separate models is unclear. It is hard to interpret this information this early in the device's development cycle.

Will Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim have a better camera?

Some reports claimed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will be thinner and have better camera hardware than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6. Display industry insider Ross Young recently reported that Samsung is working on a device called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which could be launched in Q4 2024. It reportedly lacks a digitizer for the S Pen so that it can be thinner.

Ross also claimed that the display panel for this slimmer Galaxy Z Fold 6 will start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year, and the device could be launched in Q1 2025, likely alongside the Galaxy S25 series.

Some consumers have been requesting Samsung launch a wider Galaxy Z Fold phone with a less noticeable crease, a wider cover screen, and flagship-grade cameras. Many Chinese phones have already launched such phones, so Samsung must be under pressure to try out at least a few hardware improvements for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 lineup.

It is possible that more in-depth and credible information about the slimmer versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be revealed sometime in the next couple of months.
