Surprisingly, the Galaxy A04s just got another firmware update

It hasn't been long since the Galaxy A04s got the May 2023 security update. We reported on the news on June 1st, but lo and behold, the low-cost phone is now getting another firmware update. It includes the newer June 2023 security patch, and it once again shows that Samsung's monthly, quarterly, and biannual security update schedules are not strictly set in stone — in a good way.

But there is a catch. To be more specific, the May 2023 security update landed on the SM-A047F variant earlier this month, while the newer June 2023 security patch is now rolling out for the SM-A047M variant, which skipped the May update in the first place.

The June 2023 update is available for the Galaxy A04s in Mexico, but other markets may follow suit. However, whether it will be released for the SM-A047F variant is unclear. Technically speaking, the Galaxy A04s follows a quarterly security patch schedule.

In any case, the new update for Mexico carries firmware version A047MUBS4CWE2, and as you can probably tell, this is a routine security patch with no other bells and whistles attached. Don't expect any One UI upgrades or enhanced UX components aside from better security.

Speaking of which, the June 2023 security patch got revealed earlier this month, and as usual, it contains fixes for dozens of flaws affecting Android OS and Samsung software and hardware. This month, there are 54 fixes for issues concerning Google's software and 11 fixes for Samsung-related security flaws.

You can download the latest update for your Galaxy A04s upon receiving the notification on your device and tapping it, or you can try to trigger the process by opening the Settings app on your phone, navigating to “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” And if you prefer manual updates over a Windows PC, you can download official firmware files from our website.
