After announcing the One UI 8 Beta Program back in May, Samsung has now announced its plans to expand the beta program to more devices across Galaxy A, Galaxy S, and Galaxy Z series. Once Samsung is done testing the new version of One UI, it will release the stable version of the software to all the compatible Galaxy phones and tablets.
Next week, the One UI 8 beta update will be released to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 in four countries. Then, in September, more Galaxy A, Galaxy S, and Galaxy Z devices will get the beta software. Samsung will then release the stable version of One UI 8 before the end of September 2025. The first devices to get the stable One UI 8 update will likely be Galaxy S25 series phones.
All the compatible Galaxy phones and tablets will likely get the stable One UI 8 update before the end of this year. Samsung worked with Google and adopted its trunk-based development model to bring One UI 8 earlier in the year than previous One UI versions.
According to a recent report, Samsung will now release its major new One UI software with its new Galaxy Z series foldable phones in the middle of the year and minor One UI version updates featuring major feature additions earlier in the year with Galaxy S series phones.
Since One UI 7 brought a major UI redesign, One UI 8 doesn't bring many changes to the UI design. It features an easier-to-understand design for Quick Share. It also allows more alarm, calendar, and reminder management features. Modes and Routines gets new actions and conditions, while multitasking lovers get the new enhanced split-screen mode and DeX improvements (based on Android 16 Desktop Mode).
The camera app gets one new gesture customization option, while the Phone app gets improved Profile Cards. The Contacts app can display recorded calls related to a particular contact. Secure Folder has also been enhanced in terms of security.
