Typically, smartphone sales begin to decline a few months after the launch. And this has historically been the case with Samsung’s Galaxy S series as well. However, the Galaxy S25 series appears to be bucking that trend. Sales of the Galaxy S25 lineup are actually rising, even though the launch of the Galaxy S26 series is now less than two months away.
According to Counterpoint Research's numbers, monthly sales of the Galaxy S25 series have climbed back to nearly the same level as during the launch month. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra were launched in February 2025, which means they have been around 11 months since their debut. Despite this, their sales remain strong, which is quite unusual this late in the product cycle.
In the first two months following the launch, the Galaxy S25 series recorded monthly sales of around 4.5 million units. Sales then began to decline in April (~3.75 million units) and hit their lowest point in August (~3 million units). However, sales started rising in September (~3.75 million units) and continued to rise through October, reaching roughly 4.5 million units once again.
The exact reason behind this acceleration is not clear. One possibility is that people are buying phones earlier amid concerns that prices could rise due to the ongoing RAM shortage. Another possibility is that Samsung is offering substantial discounts and attractive trade-in deals on the Galaxy S25 series.
Whatever the reason, the Galaxy S25 lineup is showcasing an unusually strong sales performance. This is an extremely positive sign considering that Apple took the crown of the world's biggest smartphone brand from Samsung in 2025. The 12-month sales figure of the Galaxy S25 series could cross 40 million if things went alright in November and December.
The Galaxy S26 series is expected to go official in the last week of February 2026. It could reach store shelves in the second week of March 2026. You can read more about it here.
