TL;DR

  • Samsung Health will now let users start Sleep Coaching with just three days of sleep data collected over the past two weeks, down from seven days in a month.
  • Sleep Coaching still uses a survey and sleep data to assign a Sleep Animal and build a personalized four- to eight-week coaching program that adapts over time.
  • The October update also adds Strava route import, a new Sleep Balance graph, and improvements to Running Coach.

Sleep Coaching is one of the best features of Samsung Health. It utilizes your sleep data to provide actionable insights on how you can improve the quality of your sleep.

Previously, it requires seven days of data in a month to begin sleep management. Samsung Health will now do that with just three days of data.

You can now import Strava routes in Samsung Health as well

To start Sleep Coaching, you'd previously need seven days of data collected within a month. This new update brings down the requirement to just three days of data within the past two weeks.

When setting up the feature, you'll complete a survey on sleep regularity, interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and subjective sleep scores.

Samsung Health will utilize the survey and three days of sleep data to assign a personalized Sleep Animal symbol. It will also build a personalized four to eight week coaching program based on your individual goals.

The program dynamically adapts and improves as more data comes in to better reflect changing sleep patterns. There's also a new pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph that brings together the five important aspects of sleep indicators, sleep time, regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction, and Energy Score.

Samsung has also improved Running Coach to provide a more connected training experience. It has expanded training tiers from 10 to 12 levels, and now allows for workout data to be exported in share-ready templates for leading social media platforms.

A partnership with the popular fitness platform Strava will now let Samsung Health users import their favorite Strava Routes for running, trail running, and cycling directly into Samsung Health as well.

All of these changes will roll out to Samsung Health via app updates in October.
