Recently, we had two reports, one from Canalys/Omdia and the other from IDC, claiming that Samsung was fourth in global smartwatch shipments in Q1 2025. Now, we have a third report claiming that Samsung isn't in the top three.

According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung had a a 7% share in global smartwatch shipment in Q1 2025, giving it a fourth place on the chart. In the first, second, and third place are Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi, with 20%, 16%, and 10% shares.

In Q1 2024, Samsung had a 9% share, which means that the South Korean tech giant’s market share has fallen by 18 percentage point. However, it isn’t just Samsung whose share has dropped. Apple’s share also fell by 9 percentage points.

The three other brands on the chart, Huawei, Xiaomi, and IMOO, all of which happen to be Chinese, have gained market share by 53, 53, and 23 percentage points. It shows that more and more people are preferring affordable models over costlier ones.

Galaxy Watch 8 series could help Samsung

Samsung is going to launch its next set of smartwatches, which may include the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, on 9 July 2025. Hopefully, these models will help the brand gain market share.
