Baseball fans in New York City can have a firsthand look at the fully upgraded, dual-sided centerfield video board at the Citi Field stadium. It has a 17,400 square feet LED screen on the front and a 6,900 square feet LED screen on the back. Since the fall season in 2022, the South Korean firm has installed over 29,800 square feet of new LED at the stadium. Since Samsung Display's partnership with the New York Mets, the total pixel count at the Citi Field stadium has gone up to 40 million.
During the Mets' What's New At Citi Field event on March 23, fans had a sneak peek at the new digital scoreboard. The new display will ensure that fans don't miss a single moment of the action once the games start. A display this big can be used to showcase action from the field in crisp 4K resolution along with the scores and various other information and statistics.
Apart from the action, the digital scoreboard offers various advertisement opportunities for advertisers. The screen on the back is so high that it's visible from the highway, offering even more advertising opportunities. This digital transformation shows how display technology can improve the overall experience at stadiums for fans while improving revenue generation.
Mark Brubaker, Chief Technology Officer at New York Mets, said, “Samsung's state-of-the-art technology upgrades at Citi Field underscore our goal of providing best-in-class experiences for our fans. The quality of these enhancements will not only provide our fans with more immersive and memorable visits to the ballpark, but it also positions Citi Field as a trailblazer in the industry.“
