On October 20, Samsung Thailand Memory Product Manager Ratchapol Chaomuangthong went on stage at the Thailand Game Awards 2024 to receive the “Best Gaming SSD” award as a Samsung representative. And it was all thanks to the all-powerful 990 Pro with Heatsink.
The 990 Pro is one of the few SSDs on the market that can be purchased with a heatsink and is officially supported by the PlayStation 5 gaming console. This is one of the main reasons why it's highly prized by gamers everywhere.
The 990 Pro SSD has a nickel-coated controller and offers intelligent heat control to improve power management and maintain speed and efficiency. This is extremely important, given the limited space with little-to-no airflow in which the SSD must operate when fitted inside the PS5 console.
Samsung offers the 990 Pro SSD with and without a heatsink and storage capacities of 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. The SSD can top read/write speeds of 7,450/6,900 MB/s.
But the 990 Pro isn't designed specifically for consoles. It's also a great choice for PC users and gamers. PC users can unlock the 990 Pro's full potential through the Samsung Magician Software, which offers drive health monitoring tools and allows users to update the firmware or set up LED color combinations for the SSD.
