With One UI 9 set to make its official debut later this month alongside Samsung's new foldables, many of the company's first-party apps are nearing their final form.
Samsung has already updated several apps for One UI 9, with some changes already visible in the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series.
A future update will also bring a handful of improvements to the Samsung Voice Recorder app, including a new feature called Cloud transcription.
As the name suggests, Cloud transcription uploads voice recordings to Samsung's servers to generate transcripts. According to Samsung, using cloud-based AI will result in more accurate transcriptions.
Currently, the Voice Recorder app only uses cloud-based AI to generate recording summaries, and users can choose to process those summaries on the device instead. Transcriptions, however, are currently generated only using on-device AI. Cloud transcription removes that limitation by giving users the option to generate transcripts using Samsung's cloud-based AI.

Another new feature seems to be an option to convert recordings. Details are scarce, but it will likely let users save recordings in different audio formats, such as MP3 or WAV. By default, the Voice Recorder app saves recordings in the M4A format.
Samsung is also adding a dedicated Manage storage section to the Voice Recorder app. Similar to the storage management tools available in apps like My Files, it will help users free up space by automatically grouping recordings into categories such as Large recordings, Short recordings, Old recordings, and Spam/scam calls.

The app will also get a few UI tweaks. The most noticeable is an animated waveform that appears when you play a recording directly from the recordings list. Currently, recordings played from the list only show a standard progress bar unless you open the full player.

Another minor UI change affects the app's settings page. Samsung has moved explanatory text for each option outside the toggle cards and placed it underneath instead, giving the page a cleaner appearance.
The updated Voice Recorder app is currently in the testing phase. We expect Samsung to roll it out within the next couple of weeks, possibly alongside the next One UI 9 beta update for the Galaxy S26 series.
