Samsung's classic trade-in formula has allowed many customers in the UK to upgrade their Galaxy devices for lower prices. Even so, the standard trade-in program is limited by the fact that it is only available at the time of purchase.
Today, Samsung announced that it is addressing this limitation with the release of a new program, which allows customers in the UK to trade their devices at any time in exchange for store credit that they can store and use later.
The program is available only for smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches made by Samsung. No other brands are eligible. However, the list of Galaxy devices that customers in the UK can exchange for store credit is expansive. It covers devices across all price ranges, from the Galaxy A and M to the Galaxy Z, S, and even Note series.
The store credit you can obtain from Samsung UK by exchanging a device will be valid for five years. You'll have plenty of time to use it toward future purchases of Galaxy phones, tablets, wearables, smart TVs, monitors, smart home appliances, and more.
Some terms and conditions apply. For one, the Galaxy device you trade must power on and hold a charge without unexpected shutdowns. It also mustn't suffer from liquid damage. The store credit obtained through the new standalone trade-in program cannot be used to buy subscriptions or third-party products through Samsung Marketplace.
Samsung's standalone trade-in program is relatively new, but being able to exchange products for store credit is something we have long wished for. This clever solution is now available in the UK, and we hope that Samsung will bring similar programs to more markets soon.
If you're in the UK and own Galaxy phones, tablets, or smartwatches you no longer use, check out Samsung's new dedicated page and consider exchanging your aging devices for store credit. You will consciously dispose of your unused electronics while benefitting from future discounts.
