Samsung’s Galaxy phones/tablets and Smart TVs come with Samsung TV Plus, an app that offers a plethora of TV channels across many genres, including news, sports, movies, music, entertainment, infotainment, and kids, for free. The company offers this service in India as well. It launched Samsung TV Plus in the country in 2021 with 27 TV channels. Since then, the brand has added many channels to the service. However, Samsung has recently removed a bunch of popular TV channels from Samsung TV Plus in India.
Around the beginning of this month, we opened the Samsung TV Plus app on our Samsung S90C OLED TV in India and discovered that the service didn’t offer many popular TV channels that it did earlier, including Animal Planet, Animal Planet HD, Discovery, Discovery HD, Discovery Kids, Discover Turbo, TLC, and TLC HD. The same was the case on the Samsung TV Plus app on our Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
The official website of Samsung TV Plus for India doesn’t mention those TV channels either (this PDF file from Samsung shows that the service offered them in the country earlier), which confirms that Samsung has indeed removed those TV channels from Samsung TV Plus. At the moment, there’s no information as to why the South Korean tech giant removed those them from service. We just hope that Samsung brings those TV channels back to Samsung TV Plus, which would make the service great again.
