If we go by new reports (via TheElec), Samsung has added one more UDC (under-display camera) supplier for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphones. Apparently, South Korea-based Coasia Optics has been roped in to supply camera modules for the company's latest foldable flagship. Earlier, Samsung procured the camera module from Patron alone.
Coasia Optics supplied Samsung with front cameras for the Galaxy A series
Well, Coasia Optics isn't a new supplier to join Samsung's portfolio. It also supplied Samsung with camera modules for the Galaxy A series. For the first time last year, Coasia Optics supplied the company with camera modules for the Galaxy S series. This year as well, it began supplying the 12MP ultrawide camera for the Galaxy A53, which was the first rear camera from Coasia Optics. Prior to this, the company only supplied front cameras to Samsung.
This move can also be seen as a sign that Samsung does not want to rely on one supplier because of the conditions that crept up due to the pandemic. Also, Coasia Optics is a trusted supplier for the company, and it may very well help Samsung with its efforts to reduce costs in its smartphone production, as the growth in the sector is currently seeing a slowdown, pressurized by inflation.
