The users also add that the TVs are working fine otherwise, indicating that the Smart Hub app is at fault. One could continue using the TVs as it is, but it wouldn't be much of a “smart” TV without the app, as it serves as a one-stop solution for all online content such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, etc.
Several models seem to be afflicted, with some dating back to seven years. Some of the affect models are, UE42F5500, UE46F6500, and UE40F6670. Other unspecified models seem to be affected, too, as highlighted by multiple Twitter users. Thankfully, the official Samsung U.K. Twitter account responded to one complainant and stated that Samsung is looking into the issue.
It is unclear as to when the affected TVs will get a fix. Nonetheless, it is reassuring to know that there is one en route. It is not every day that a company promises to fix its seven-year-old offerings, especially at a time when planned obsolescence is tacitly accepted as the industry standard.
