On Samsung’s server, a new firmware file for the Galaxy A36, carrying version A366BXXUADZG1, has been spotted (via Mohammed Khatri). Considering the brand’s versioning convention for Galaxy smartphones’ firmware files, it seems to have a newer Android skin than the one the device is currently running, which is One UI 8.5. That means it most likely features the company’s latest Android customisation for Galaxy smartphones, One UI 9.0 (Android 17).
It suggests that Samsung has started testing One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy A36, and the update is now one step closer to release. The brand is expected to debut the stable version of the new software later this month with its next foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The company should then start rolling it out to older devices, with new and high-end models getting it first and older and less expensive ones getting it later.
One UI 9.0 brings more UI customization and productivity features. That includes a more flexible Quick Panel with resizable sliders and rearrangeable controls, easier multitasking in Samsung DeX, the new Tape feature and additional pen styles in Samsung Notes, and expanded Game Booster controls that let you adjust more settings without leaving a game.
The update also enhances privacy and accessibility with a location access indicator, a new “What's new” section for Accessibility, Text Spotlight, Select to Speak, improved keyboard and Mouse Keys controls, easier access to accessibility options, and TalkBack updates delivered directly through the Play Store. All of these changes should give the Galaxy A36 a fresh breath of life.
