In 2014, Samsung acquired SmartThings, the company’s current smart home platform. Since then, the South Korean tech giant has been improving it consistently, which has made it one of the most popular smart home platforms in the market at the moment, having 350 million registered users globally and supporting products from 340+ brands, competing head-on with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit.

As you might have gathered from the infographic, Samsung upgraded SmartThings in a very organized manner, integrating the newest technologies, including Matter. It shows that the South Korean tech giant has a clear vision about the smart home platform’s future.

On 3 October 2024, Samsung is holding Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2024. At this event, the company is going to announce new features for many of its products and services, including SmartThings. Hopefully, Samsung will announce major improvements for SmartThings, making it more useful and convenient for people to use.
