Samsung has been trying to steal Apple's thunder this week as the latter has finally launched the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone.

The company felt that this week is just the right time to announce that sales in Europe for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are up 50% combined compared to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The numbers have been impressive for this year's lineup

Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have seen a 50% increase in combined sales across Europe over last year's model. The company also mentions that 20% of Galaxy Z Flip 8 users have switched from other brands, with many of them buying their first foldable.

The company highlights that there has been a 3x increase in users upgrading from a Galaxy Z Flip series phone to a Galaxy Z Fold 8, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Perhaps to showcase that iPhone users are willing to switch despite the impending launch of Apple's first iPhone, the company also points out that there has been a 60% increase in iPhone users switching to a new Galaxy Z8 device over the previous generation.

All of this is meant to showcase that Samsung continues to enjoy a dominant position in the market despite Apple's long-awaited arrival in the segment. How the picture changes in the coming years will be very interesting to see.
