Samsung reaches out to 40+ million users to help them secure their phones

Through the Samsung Knox Security Platform, Galaxy devices offer robust privacy and security features that often improve when new OS versions roll out. For example, One UI 7 added Identity Check and Security Delay – two features that are becoming more widespread as the update reaches more Galaxy devices.

However, Samsung's efforts to improve security can only reach their full potential if smartphone users actively participate. So, in an effort to raise awareness of the Knox Platform's capabilities, Samsung UK embarked on a mission to send public safety security message alerts to more than 40 million Samsung Account holders.

In supporting the UK Home Office's ongoing work to prevent mobile phone thefts, Samsung announced today that it will encourage Galaxy phone users nationwide to enable the latest security features in One UI. These features include:

Theft Detection Lock: A system that uses machine learning to detect motions associated with theft. If triggered, it instantly locks the screen to prevent access.

Offline Device Lock: A tool that automatically locks the screen when the device is disconnected from the network for an extended period.

Remote Lock: A tool that allows users whose devices have already been stolen to remotely lock their phones, regain control of their accounts, and access recovery options.

Identity Check (new in One UI 7): Through this new tool, users can set requirements for biometric authentication when sensitive security settings changes are attempted in “Safe Places.”

Security Delay (new in One UI 7): When enabled, a one-hour delay is activated whenever changes to biometric authentication settings are requested.

Samsung will reach more than 40 million smartphone users through the Samsung Members platform and social media channels, marketing campaigns at Piccadilly Lights, OOH adverts in tube and train stations in central London, along with BVOD, OLV, and CTV channels.
