Samsung has announced that it has partnered with Artists Rights Society (ARS), a private copyright, licensing, and monitoring organization that handles the work of more than 120,000 painters, sculptors, photographers, and illustrators worldwide, to bring 33 pieces of art from LeRoy Neiman to the Samsung Art Store on Samsung TVs.

LeRoy Neiman is an American artist who, in Samsung’s words, is known for “kinetic, saturated canvases” that “captured the energy of sport, celebrity and 20th century life — from championship boxing and the Olympic Games to jazz clubs and grand casinos.” With the latest addition, Samsung Art Store now has more than 5,000 artworks.

Samsung says that the partnership with ARS opens an “unprecedented opportunity to collaborate with ARS’s extraordinary roster, unlocking an untold number of new artworks.”

Commenting on the achievement, ARS’s Vice President and Director of Business Development, Katarina Feder, said, “For nearly 40 years, our job at ARS has been to help artists encounter new audiences through licensing agreements that reflect the times and respect their practices. Samsung Art Store has built a remarkable, global platform that treats art with the reverence of a gallery. We’re thrilled to connect our members with millions of homes around the world, starting with an artist who understood spectacle better than almost anyone, the great LeRoy Neiman.”

On the other hand, Samsung’s Director of Business Development, Kyle Menges, said, “LeRoy Neiman painted energy itself, the roar of the crowd, the flash of the ring, the glamour of the moment. We’re honored to partner with ARS to celebrate the legacy of artists like LeRoy Neiman, while ensuring that the estates entrusted with their legacies are fairly recognized and compensated.”
