The patch also includes fixes for 22 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, which are security flaws that only affect Galaxy devices. A lot of those vulnerabilities enabled attackers to read or execute code on a device without the user's permission on Android versions 12, 13, and 14, while one vulnerability made it possible for attackers to change the user's notification settings.
As always, Samsung chose not to disclose details about every vulnerability to prevent attackers from exploiting them before the patch has made its way to affected devices. Not disclosing everything is particularly important for the January 2025 security patch, as Samsung is busy developing the Android 15/One UI 7 update and may take longer than usual to roll out this month's security patch to eligible devices.
Samsung hasn't released the January security update for any device as of this writing. (The patch is available for the Galaxy S24 lineup, but only on the One UI 7 beta update, not on Android 14/One UI 6.1.1). We'll let you know once that changes, so stay tuned.
