Samsung Display has incredible achievements under its belt. The company has created exceptional display products across many different categories, including gaming monitors. New reports out of South Korea suggest that the company has developed what would be the its fastest display panel for gaming monitors.

A lot of new products in this category tend to get revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas which takes place at the start of the year. It remains to be seen if this new panel will materialize in any consumer products either from Samsung or other monitor makers at CES 2025.

Samsung's first 500Hz refresh rate gaming monitor is coming soon

Local media in Korea is reporting that Samsung Display has made its fastest display panel for gaming monitors yet with a remarkable 500Hz refresh rate. The report adds that this 27-inch display panel uses QD-OLED technology and provides a 2,560×1,440 pixel resolution. It would be a great option for professional gamers, as the higher refresh rate will enable them to be unburdened by lag.

It's further said that the development of this panel has almost been completed. Samsung Display is now working with its commercial partners to launch products featuring this 500Hz refresh rate panel in the first half of 2025.

There's always the question of power draw for the GPU when frame rates need to be enabled for such high refresh rates, so it will be interesting to see how that panels out once these monitors hit the market. Perhaps next-generation GPUs might be available in the market by the time these monitors go on sale.
