Home Connectivity Appliance (HCA), spearheaded by Samsung, LG, Haier, Midea, and others, has launched an advanced ‘Energy Management Specification 1.0' interface at the ongoing world's largest technology event, CES 2024 in Las Vegas, USA. HCA is an organization founded in 2021 that is dedicated to energy savings by establishing Cloud-to-Cloud (C2C) interoperability across home appliances, HVAC systems, and TVs.

The HCA Energy Management Specification interface is based on the principle of providing interoperability between large appliance manufacturers, negating the need to purchase appliances from one brand to take advantage of smart benefits. Thanks to the new interface, HCA member brands can connect all their appliances to demand response programs and explore all utilities.

HCA Energy Management will help you save money automatically by implementing energy-saving methods

Appliances from HCA member brands can provide notifications of demand response events and then track energy savings and other important metrics. Demand response is important as it helps appliances use less energy and, in the future, can lead companies to reward customers for cutting usage during peak times.

As noted by The Verge, smart connected appliances of HCA member brands can use the software to make automatic small shifts or reductions in use in sync with the needs of the grid to save you money automatically.

With HCA Energy Management, key data from appliances will help users understand the power usage of home products, how to optimize it, and give energy-saving insights to the users, resulting in energy efficiency and cost savings. During CES 2024, HCA launched its interoperability specification, which is currently implemented by only three manufacturers: Samsung, LG, and Vestel. So, there is room for adoption by other members.

Samsung’s product naming has a grammar problem

I'm a big fan of Samsung using proper nouns to label most of its home electronics. For instance, PC monitors names are no longer just a string of seemingly random letters and numbers. Instead, they belong to lineups named ‘Odyssey' or ‘ViewFinity.' It makes Samsung look better instead of coming across as a company that […]
