Samsung has launched a smartphone in India today, the Galaxy M36. It is a slightly trimmed-down version of the Galaxy A36 and a successor to the Galaxy M35 from last year. The brand had been teasing the phone in the country for many days now, and a couple of days ago, the company launched it as the Galaxy Jump 4 in South Korea.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy M36 5G in India at INR 16,499 for the base variant, which has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The company hasn’t revealed the other configurations it will offer. We expect there will be an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. It will make the phone available for purchase on 12 July 2025 from Amazon India.
There are four major differences between the Galaxy M35 and the Galaxy M36. First, while the former has a 6.6-inch display, the latter has a 6.7-inch display. Second, the Galaxy M35's display has a punch-hole for the front camera, whereas the Galaxy M36's display has a U-shaped notch for the front camera, which is actually a downgrade.
Third, while the former has a 6,000mAh battery, the latter has a 5,000mAh battery. That's the second downgrade. Fourth, the reduction in battery capacity has resulted in a lower weight (220 grams vs. 198 grams). Many people complained that the only problem with the Galaxy M35 was its weight. That won't be the case with the Galaxy M36.
Overall, the Galaxy M36 offers two upgrades and two downgrades compared to the Galaxy M35, while costing slightly more. If you prefer a larger battery and a punch-hole display, you should go with the Galaxy M35. If you like a larger display, a slimmer design, and a lower weight, you should go with the Galaxy M36.
It is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy M36's Android 15-based One UI 7.0 offers many UI features, including Circle to Search and Galaxy AI with Object Eraser, Image Clipper, and Edit Suggestion.
