FCC certification for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 reveals that the phone will lack support for Wi-Fi 7. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first and only Samsung phone with Wi-Fi 7 support at this time, and we had expected that it will be joined by the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 later this year, but that's not the case.
The Z Flip 6 likely has Wi-Fi 7 disabled at a firmware/software level, similar to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. All Galaxy S24 models come equipped with the necessary hardware on the Snapdragon variants, but since the Exynos chip that powers them in most countries tops out at Wi-Fi 6E, Samsung chose to artificially restrict Wi-Fi 7 on all S24 and S24+ units regardless of the chip inside.
Of course, it's also possible the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is actually handicapped at the hardware level. That wouldn't be surprising, because, as mentioned earlier, Galaxy Z Flip smartphones tend to lack some features and specs that are available on other flagship Galaxy devices.
What about the Galaxy Z Fold 6? While it's not confirmed, the Fold 6 will probably support connecting to Wi-Fi 7 networks, if only because it's too expensive to have such limitations. Not everyone can use Wi-Fi 7 right now because it has yet to be approved by regulatory authorities in many countries, but future-proofing is always a good thing.
