Samsung confirms Galaxy Z Flip 5's no-gap hinge in official video

Earlier this year, rumors started that Samsung will finally shift to a no-gap hinge for its upcoming foldable phones, just like other Chinese smartphone brands did. However, some rumors recently claimed the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 still have a small gap between their folding halves when the phone is folded. However, those rumors turned out to be inaccurate. A short teaser video posted by Samsung on Instagram and Twitter reveals that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 folds completely flat, leaving no gap near its hinge.

As you can see in the video above, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 seems to have flat sides. There doesn't appear to be any gap when it is completely folded, unlike previous-generation Galaxy Z series phones. This makes the phone look good and more resistant to dust and debris that can sometimes damage the hinge.

It could have stereo speakers and an IPX7 rating for water resistance.
