Samsung is marching toward the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, which is set to happen early next year. The company has started all its preparations, including receiving certifications for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra batteries. It has also taken a step toward developing software for these upcoming phones.

Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra firmware development has started

We have received information that Samsung has started the firmware development for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. All three phones now have initial firmware versions based on Android 14. The firmware development has started for the European, Indian, and US variants of smartphones. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ have firmware versions for the European and the US variants, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra has firmware for the European, Indian, and US variants.

The company may start testing firmware versions for more models in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S24 will launch with Android 14-based One UI 6 onboard, and if we are to go by Samsung's standards, the devices will get updates up to Android 18.

The story continues after the video below.

Some Galaxy S24 specifications have leaked already

We are less than six months away from the possible launch of the Galaxy S24 series, and most of the specifications for the upcoming phones have already been leaked. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ may get 100mAh bigger batteries, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will use the same 5,000mAh battery. All three phones are expected to use the Exynos 2400 chip in some countries and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in others.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to feature a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ may continue using the same cameras as their predecessors. All three phones are rumored to feature the same 12MP selfie cameras as the Galaxy S23 series.

All three upcoming high-end phones will reportedly use LTPO OLED screens with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S24 Ultra may feature a brighter display and a titanium frame. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are rumored to feature flat sides like the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. More information about these phones may leak closer to the launch.
