Big new Galaxy S23 update with August security patch rolling out!

Samsung still hasn't kicked off the One UI 6.0 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series, but it is rolling out a big new update for its latest candybar flagship phones. The rollout of this update has started in Thailand and Galaxy S23 owners will have to download almost 1.4GB to install the update on their phones.

As expected, the newest update brings the August 2023 security patch to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. As for the rest of the changelog, Samsung only says that device reliability and stability has been improved. However, we should get a more extensive changelog once Samsung releases the update in Korea or posts the full list of changes and improvements on its community forums.

Story continues after the video

It will be interesting to see if this ends up being the last regular Galaxy S23 update before Samsung launches the One UI 6.0 beta program. The One UI 6.0 beta release has already been delayed by nearly two weeks, though we guess we shouldn't be surprised because Samsung is currently running a beta program for One UI 5.1.1 and will likely want to finish that up before giving us its users the chance to test Android 14 and One UI 6.0.

If you own a Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra, you will be able to download the August update (firmware version S91xBXXU3AWGJ) from the phone's Settings » Software update menu once it has arrived in your country. As always, we will also have the latest firmware available in our archives for those looking to manually upgrade their device using a Windows PC.
