Latest reports suggest that Samsung has allegedly started working on a smart ring called the ‘Galaxy Ring.' The so-called Samsung Galaxy Ring will use circuit boards made in Japan. Notably, Samsung has formally begun the development of the wearable ring that users will wear on their fingers and get health data on their phones.
Using this Samsung Galaxy Ring, users can track their health, vitals, and, most importantly, their heart rate, similar to a smartwatch. Samsung is initially developing the initial PCB hardware necessary for the smart ring. If everything is in place, we could see an early prototype shortly. From there, the company will take a call on whether this Galaxy Ring is a feasible product or not.
Rumors of the Galaxy Ring have been floating around the internet for quite a while. However, there haven't been significant updates in this regard, apart from a few tidbits and patent information. As per The Elec, A trademark surfaced earlier this year that says Galaxy Ring. This Samsung Galaxy Ring will go head-to-head with Oura's line of wearables. Samsung has even mentioned a smart ring in the Samsung Health app.
Some other trademark filings have popped up apart from the Galaxy Ring, including Galaxy Circle, Galaxy Index, Galaxy Insight, Galaxy One, Galaxy Pulse, and Galaxy Rhythm. Speaking of the accuracy of the smart rings, since they will be worn close and tightly to the user's body, they will be more accurate in tracking health vitals as compared to a smartwatch.
