Samsung has started rolling out the November 2025 security patch, but not to the devices you’d expect. Surprisingly, the Galaxy A17 5G—one of Samsung’s newest budget smartphones—is the first Galaxy device to get the latest update.
This is an unusual turn of events, since Samsung typically pushes monthly security patches to its flagship models like the Galaxy S25 or Galaxy Z series before any other phones.
That said, perhaps we shouldn’t be completely surprised. In recent months, Samsung has shown an impressive level of consistency and speed with software updates, rolling out One UI 8 to both high-end and entry-level phones in record time. The company seems determined to prove that even its most affordable devices deserve timely updates.
For now, Galaxy A17 5G owners in Vietnam can download the new update, which comes with firmware version A176BXXS3BYJ1. It only includes the November 2025 security patch, with no new features or performance changes.
The rollout will likely expand to more markets in the coming days, so if you own the Galaxy A17 5G, you can check for the update by heading to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
