Expert RAW, as the name suggests, saves images in both JPG and RAW format. And, as Samsung puts it, Expert RAW offers improvements such as wider dynamic range and brighter and clearer photos in low-light conditions compared to the default camera app.
Samsung regularly updates Expert RAW to bring improvements to image quality, and in the next update, it seems Samsung is addressing how saturated photos captured using Expert RAW will be. According to Twitter leakster Ice universe, version 2.0.10.6 of Expert RAW for the Galaxy S23 Ultra noticeably turns down the color saturation after recent updates to the app turned saturation up.
The difference is easy to see in the before and after pictures below. Some will probably be disappointed that saturation has been turned down, but we think lower saturation by default is better as one can always change saturation and other parameters using the app's shooting controls before taking a picture or in post processing later.
However, it seems pictures taken using the ultra-wide and zoom cameras on the Galaxy S23 Ultra are still oversaturated, though we can't really confirm that at the moment as version 2.0.10.6 of Expert RAW doesn't seem to be live for everyone yet and isn't available on the Galaxy Store for us here at SamMobile.
But you can expect that update to arrive globally soon, and while the new version was tested on a Galaxy S23 Ultra, it will no doubt be available for all Galaxy S23 models. It should also come to other Samsung phones that support Expert RAW, although the change in photo saturation may not be included in the update for every device.
You can download Expert RAW from the Galaxy Store here (search for Expert RAW in the Galaxy Store on your phone if that link doesn't work), or through APK Mirror.
